Since 2003, Beartooth Humane Alliance has provided an annual spay/neuter clinic for the residents of Carbon County, Montana. Our clinic, dubbed Operation Nip and Tuck, is held over two days each fall. We are proud to boast that through the eight annual clinics that we’ve held to date, we have sterilized 3,346 cats and dogs! Now that's a whole lot of animals put out of the reproduction business!
Before Operation Nip and Tuck, there were no organized programs to address the pet overpopulation problem -- either to reach individuals who allowed their animals to breed indiscriminately due to lack of understanding or to help low-income residents who understood the need for sterilizing but did not have the financial resources. In meeting this need, our clinic has had a significant impact on animal populations and has been widely praised by people from all walks of life.
Our plan is to continue providing spay and neuter services as long as there appears to be a need to control domestic animal overpopulation in our county. In the process, we will take advantage of all opportunities to educate our public about the importance of sterilizing their animals.
Operation Nip & Tuck is available to any Carbon County resident at no cost who brings in feral and barn cats or any other pet cats or dogs. People who bring in animals will be alerted to any medical condition identified by the veterinarians and encouraged to provide follow-up medical care.
Beartooth Humane Alliance is committed to continued efforts to control dog and cat populations in Carbon County! Operation Nip & Tuck X will be coming again on September 21 and 22, 2012!
