BHA and Domestic and Sexual Violence Services of Carbon County (DSVS) have collaborated to provide survivors of violence the ability to escape from their abusers with their pet(s) through the Safe Haven program. BHA has made arrangements with confidential foster homes to temporarily care for these pets while the survivor makes new living arrangements.
In many instances, survivors of abuse refuse to leave their abusers for fear of retribution against their pets. Safe Haven offers peace of mind to the survivor while he/she seeks safety.
