HUMANE EDUCATOR WORKSHOP:

HOW TO HELP KIDS BUILD CHARACTER

The Beartooth Humane Alliance is pleased to present a free workshop on how to deliver humane education, Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Carnegie Library in Red Lodge, 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

What is humane education? It’s teaching children to respect all forms of life in our homes, communities, and environment. While humane education is aimed at preventing cruelty to animals, it builds character in general and encourages empathy and a sense of responsibility in children.

Who should attend? Teachers, school leaders, school counselors, animal care staff and volunteers, leaders of kids’ groups, parents, and interested individuals. You’ll learn proven techniques for helping children understand proper care and respect for animals. And you’ll learn how to obtain kid-tested education materials to use in the classroom, at home, at kids’ clubs, and in other activities.

The workshop will be led by Suzi Hansen, Regional Program Director, Humane Society of the United States, Northern Rockies Regional Office, Billings. Suzi will present techniques and materials that have been used effectively in classrooms and other settings throughout the country to encourage kindness toward life in children.

Although there is no cost to attend, space is limited, so please Diane Zook at 672-6960 to register and ask any questions you may have.
